ACT Government Directorates


Directorates :
Chief Minister and Treasury Directorate
Chief Minister and Treasury Directorate

The Chief Minister and Treasury Directorate leads the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) and provides strategic advice and support to the Chief Minister, the Treasurer and the Cabinet on policy development, financial and economic policy, service delivery and whole of government issues, facilitates the implementation of government priorities and provides high level executive support and policy advice.

Commerce and Works Directorate
Commerce and Works Directorate

Commerce and Works is the transactional centre of the public service, providing cost-efficient services in core administrative activities. This enables agencies to better focus on their core business of providing services to the community.

The Directorate has three main business functions: the Shared Services Centre, the ACT Revenue Office and the ACT Insurance Authority (ACTIA). The Directorate also provides policy advice in respect of government business enterprises.

Community Services Directorate
Community Services Directorate

Community Services Directorate has responsibility for a wide range of human services functions in the ACT; including multicultural and community affairs; public and community housing services and policy; children; youth and family support services and policy; disability policy and services; therapy services; Child and Family Centres; the ACT Government Concessions Program; homelessness and community services.

Economic Development Directorate
Economic Development Directorate

The Economic Development Directorate aligns and coordinates land release and development, property management and major projects within the ACT. Many of the Government's social, economic and environmental policies and objectives rest upon the effective use of government land and property.

Education and Training Directorate
Education and Training Directorate

The Education and Training Directorate delivers high quality education services through government schools, registers non government schools and administers vocational education and training in the ACT.

Environment and Sustainable Development Directorate
Environment and Sustainable Development Directorate

The Environment and Sustainable Development Directorate promotes sustainable living and resource use, strengthens the Territory's response to climate change, and provides a planning and land use system that contributes to the sustainable development of the ACT.

The Directorate's aim is to lead the Territory in developing and implementing targeted policies and programs that address environment protection and sustainability, nature conservation, heritage, water and energy security, sustainable urban design, and sustainable transport and spatial planning.

Health Directorate
Health Directorate

Health Directorate provides a comprehensive range of health services to the people of the Australian Capital Territory. Health Directorate sets health policy; plans the delivery of health services; while ensuring these services meet community needs. Health Directorate also funds a range of non-Government organisations to provide vital healthcare services to the people of the ACT and surrounding region.

Justice and Community Safety Directorate
Justice and Community Safety Directorate

The Justice and Community Safety Directorate comprises several agencies and is responsible for a wide range of activities and services in the areas of justice; the law; emergencies; commercial practices and government elections.

Territory and Municipal Services Directorate
Territory and Municipal Services Directorate

The Territory and Municipal Services Directorate plans, develops and delivers a range of state municipal services for the people of the ACT. Their services to the community are delivered by a number of diverse and specialised business groups.
